527. Food Service Systems Management. Problems encountered in food
service management including quantity food preparation and purchasing,
institutional organization, supervision, and financial control. Required minimum
of 40 hours experience in food service in on-the-job experience. Prerequisite.
HEFS 222 and MGMT 330.
532. Family Economics. Principles of finance and utilization of time and energy
resources for the family. Including spending plans, credit, savings, insurance,
housing, taxes and investments.
551. Guidance in Early Childhood. Fundamental principles underlying
behavior and methods of working with young children. Minimum of 30 hours
Child Development Center participation required.
552. Parenting and Family Skills. Principles of effective parenting including
interpersonal skills, communication, copying strategies relative to various patterns
of cultural and family life style, roles, responsibilities, and support systems of the
family and society; and parent/child interactions through a life-span approach.
553. The Family and the Community. Consideration of institutions and
resources in the community as they affect the well-being of children and families.
Experiences and information needed to work effectively with these institutions
and resources. Prerequisite: at least 3 semester hours in courses related to family
studies, or consent of instructor.
554. Aging in the Family. Problems of aging in the family as related to
interpersonal relationships, nutrition, and near environmental needs of the
elderly in maintaining personal independence. Fifteen hours of field experience
required.
INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY
532. Electricity and Magnetism. Electrostatics, magnetostatics, circuit theory,
Maxwell's equations, electromagnetic and magnetostatic field theory, dielectrics,
displacement current, current density, Poynting vector, scalar and vector
potentials. Prerequisite. Physics 122. Same as Physics 532.
567. General Graphic Arts. Deals with modern media and techniques in the
field of graphic arts. Same as JMC 233.
574. Industrial Supervision. Problems and techniques in planning and
managing the industrial environment. Prerequisite. 9 hours of INDT.
580. Manufacturing Technology. Production methods of construction,
finishing materials and processes, and materials testing. Course fee: $25.
Prerequisite. INDT 230 or 231 and 3 hours of drafting.
582. Materials and Processes of Industrial Technology. Man and his
changing environment as it relates to technology. Research in experimentation
with industrial materials, process, management, and techniques. Course fee: $25.
Prerequisite. 6 hours of Industrial Technology.
600. Guided Study. Selected research problems in the area of industrial
technology.
MATHEMATICS
512. College Geometry. An extension of Euclidean geometry learned in high
school. Includes some construction, foundations and methods of proof in
Euclidean geometry essential to the secondary teacher of mathematics. An
introduction to non-Euclidean geometry. Designed for teacher training.
Prerequisite. MATH 309 or MATH 186 or concurrent enrollment in either.
532. Introduction to Operations Research. Mathematics applied to decisionmaking
in business and other large scale operations, Queueing theory, inventory
theory, Markov theory, decision analysis. Prerequisite. MATH 277 and MATH 334.29
