MFI Courses of Instruction
5309. Introduction to the Theory and Practice of Counseling.
A survey course which surveys historical antecedents, philosophical assumptions, and theoretical
rationale of the major approaches to therapy. Special attention is given to theological implications.

6300. Guided Study.
6301. Supervised Practicum.
Supervised experience in a variety of real counseling situations. Awareness, listening skills, paraphrase,
reflection and sensitivity are especially emphasized and developed. In-depth consideration will be
placed upon analysis and evaluation of research, ethical concerns, leadership approaches, and problems
arising with group leadership.
6303. Internship I.
Supervised practice in marriage and family therapy. Emphasis on a wide variety of experience. MMFT
majors only.
6304. Internship II.
