ISQS 220 Business Problem Programming (3-2-3), on demand.
Introduction to the primary computer language used in business today,
COBOL. This course stresses the structure and design of computer
programs using COBOL. Structured programming techniques are

ISQS 320 Advanced Concepts of Computer Languages (3-2-3),
on demand. Advanced programming concepts using the COBOL
language. Editing techniques are stressed. Sequential files, key index files
and data base structures are introduced. Course fee: $75. Prerequisite:
ISQS 220.
ISQS 322 Business Statistics (3-0-3), fall, spring. Survey of methods
of collection, analysis, presentation, and interpretation of business
information. Includes methods of sampling, uses of averages, construction
of graphs, index numbers, probability, distributions, hypothesis testing,
analysis of variance, chi-square, and correlation and regression analysis.
Course fee: $160. Prerequisites: MATH 130 or MATH 131
ISQS 324 Management Information Systems (3-0-3), fall, spring. A
comprehensive study of organizational needs for information and an
introduction to the integrated management information system.
Information is studied as an organizational resource. The creation and
distribution of managerial and accounting information and the
management of that resource are stressed. Operational, tactical and
strategic information systems are analyzed. Course fee: $75. Prerequisites:
Upper division standing and spreadsheet skills.
ISQS 420 Data Base Management Systems (3-2-3), on demand.
Introduction to the concepts of data-base-oriented information systems.
Stresses the effects of the integrated information system on the
decision-making process of the company. Data base theory, data base
structures, and general file considerations are incorporated into the course.
Participation as a member of a programming team in the development of
real-world production programs using advanced COBOL coding techniques
is accomplished in the lab. Course fee: $75. Prerequisite: ISQS 320.
ISQS 424 Systems Analysis and Design (3-0-3), on demand.
Introduction to the concepts of systems analysis and design of business
computing systems and an overview of the system development life cycle.
Analysis of business system problems by project teams for designing
computer-based solutions; an advanced study of structured systems
development. Emphasis is placed on strategies and techniques of structured
designs for producing effective and efficient computer-based business
systems. Control procedures required for data integrity, processing
accuracy, and system security are stressed.
ISQS 426 Management of Data Processing within the
Corporation (3-0-3), on demand. Comprehensive study of the dataprocessing function within the corporation. Obtaining computer services,
hardware operation, software development, training and management of
personnel, quality control and security measures are all topics for class
consideration. The course is enhanced by field trips to operational
computer centers. Prerequisite: ISQS 320 or concurrent enrollment.
ISQS 499 Guided Study (3-0-3),* on demand. An independent study
to allow a student to devote studies to an area of information systems not
covered in class. Prior arrangements must be made with a faculty member
before registering for this course. Course fee: $75.

MGMT 130 Introduction to Business (3-0-1), fall, spring. The study
of business as a professional career and as an institution. Includes selected
concepts of business ethics.
MGMT 330 Management and Organizational Behavior (3-0-3),
fall, spring. An introduction to the process of management. Attention is
given to management philosophy, planning, decision-making, business
ethics, organization structure, social relationships, group behavior, leadership,
motivation, and control. Prerequisites: ACCT 201; ECON 260 and
261.
MGMT 331 Production Management (3-0-3), fall, spring. A study of
the production operations function in business, including the creation of
both goods and services. Study is centered on design, location, and
operation of the production operations management system and its
interrelationship with other systems in the organization. Course fee: $75.
Prerequisites: ISQS 322.
MGMT 333 Business and Public Policy (3-0-3), summer. A study
of the business-government relationship, how government is a central
stakeholder of business, and how it represents the public in its dealings
with business.
MGMT 334 Managerial Communication (3-0-3), fall, spring. A
study of managerial communication in the contemporary, technological
environment. Emphasis on intra-organizational communication.
MGMT 335 Leadership (3-0-3), on demand. The study, comparison,
and contrast of leadership traits, leaders, and leadership strategies.
Prerequisite: MGMT 330.
MGMT 336 Executive Decision Making (3-0-3), fall, spring. A
survey of decision making in the corporate context designed to enhance
sensitivity to a variety of economic, legal, political, public relations and
ethical issues and consequences.
MGMT 432 Management of Small Business (3-0-3), fall, spring.
Theory, general principles and practice required to initiate and manage a
small business successfully. Includes practical application of these concepts
through counseling existing small businesses and conducting appropriate
research upon which to base recommendations to solve their problems.
Prerequisites: MGMT 330, MKTG 340, and senior standing.
MGMT 434 Business, Government, and Society (3-0-3), fall,
spring. An examination of business and its interrelationship with the physical,
social, and cultural aspects of society. Topics include business ideology,
ethics, operational consequences, and responsibilities within a changing,
uncertain environment. Prerequisite: senior standing. Same as HIST 434.
MGMT 435 Organizational Theory (3-0-3), fall. An examination of
complex, formal organizations as systems linked into an environment. A
focus on organization goals, structure, internal processes, environment.
While particular emphasis is placed on the business organization, general
concepts are developed that apply to all types of organizations.
Prerequisite: MGMT 330, 331, and senior standing.
MGMT 436 Current Topics in Organizational Behavior (3-0-3),
spring. An analysis of individual, group, and organizational variables which
inhibit or facilitate effective organizational functioning. Topics may include
rewards, motivation, leadership, culture, decision-making, and ethics.
Prerequisite: senior standing.
MGMT 439 Administrative Policy (3-0-3), fall, spring. Formulation
and interpretation of policy, executive responsibilities, and
decision-making; administrative practices and business ethics; lectures, case
problems, and business simulation game. Capstone course. Course fee:$85. Prerequisite: upper division business core.
