It was Dollar Day In Tulla
Tho thought occurred to us How did all these people know it was
Dollar Day In Tulla Some may have remembered that the first
Monday of the month Is Dollar Day but not so this month It was decided
to have Dollar Day the last Monday In November Instead of the
first Monday of December for this time only
And now comcth the commercial
All these people knew about Dollar Day In Tulla because of local
advertising media They didnt read about It In the Amarillo Daily News
They didnt read about It In the Plalnvlcw rag which was distributed
gratis to all homes In Tulla last Sunday They didnt hear about It on
KGNC radio or television
How did YOU know Monday was Dollar Day In Tulla
And we recalled the opening of Christmas season one year ago when
Tulla streets were n beehive of activity on that first night the merchants
stayed open We arent the least bit humble or bashful when it comes
to talking about the power of Tulias advertising media
Monday Nov 30 1959 and Monday night Dec 1 1953 are Just two
occasions when it was proved beyond a question of doubt that Tulias
advertising media can glut the streets of Tulla when merchants give us
something that has drawing power

MOW THAT VOTEKS have given Swisher County hospital a vote
or confidence and its future Is assured it Is to be hoped that
every resident of the county will pause and reflect a moment on what
this tremendous asset moans to this area
During its 30 year history the hospital has seen some dark days
Once during World War II it had to bo closed for want of personnel to
operate it On a few occasions we have heard service was not everything
to bo desired On one occasion we became so incensed at the
hospital that we never set foot inside for more than two years
Hut now is the time to forget any unpleasant memories of the past
I vry person now using the hospital can attest to its present service
We defy anyone to find a hospital where better service is to be found
and those in charge guarantee that this high quality of service is going to
nntinue so long as tho hospital exists 1

election will be related to the patronage extended the local hos
pitil Other than receiving superior service it is Just good business for
SwishT residents to patronize their own hospital Of course those who
Wisest and know Swisher County hospital best patronize it because
of it own merits perhaps never considering the economic angle How
eer those who live on the fringes of the county where it is approximately
the same distance to outofcounty hospitals sometimes select their
hospitals without economic prejudice assuming that hospitals arc all
the same forgetting that they have an economic Interest in their own
county hospital
People are about the same everywhere Tulia doctors and dentists
as well as the hospital have patients from Canyon Plalnvlcw and even
Amarillo To some people the grass always looks greener across tho
fence
Every Swisher resident falling to use Swisher County hospital Isis
using his patronage to force upward the amount of tax dollars which
must be raised by the ad valorem tax voted last Saturday
COUNTRY EDITOR
WE LIVED in Happy and we once did we would patronize
IF Dr Robinson who has been a godsend to that community for the
past 20 years Dr Robinson provided Happy with a clinic Not only
is this clinic of untold value during emergencies when every second
counts but Dr Robinson provides medical service to Happy residents
who perhaps are physically or economically unable to patronize outof
town doctors
Tco much could never be said for the smalltown doctor
How would it feel to get a limb cut off or be cut open In an automobile
accident and know that the ne arcst doctor was 15 miles away
It is no fault of anyone in Tulla that Dr Robinson an osteopath
cannot brinj his patients to Swisher County hospital This is the fault
of the American Medical Association As the law now is a hospital
may admit either osteopaths or medical doctors never both This is
the price we pay for having monopolies In these United States
The hospital board would have admitted Dr Robinson to Swisher
County hospital in a moment If It had had the power It wouldnt have
made an iota of difference what medical doctors thought about the ar
arrangement
We would never attempt to toil away any of Dr Robinsons patients
COUNTRY EDMOS
vTT AS IS TO HE expected there are other county residents living
EJ in Happy who patronize medical doctors They must seek this service
and the service of a hospital in some other community We would suggest
that they investigate the medical services available in their own
county where they pay taxes Anyone calling on Dr Fred Richards
will be given two examinations for the price of one if ho brings along
this coupon Dollar Day only

nevertheless arc necessary
Next Saturday we will vote on a 00000 bond issue which is designed
to kill two birds with one stone
Its primary purpose Is to alleviate a classroom shortage on the
public school campus Its secondary purpose Is to get the Texas Education
Agency off tho necks of school officials The Agency for tho
past four years has termed the facilities of the agricultural department
