LOAN FUNDS
ELOISE ANDERSON FUND: Judge E. B. Anderson of Goldthwaite
founded this fund in memory of his daughter, Eloise Anderson, who
died in the college during the World War. Liberty Bonds owned
by Miss Anderson at the time of her death and a substantial contribution
from Judge Anderson were the basis of the fund. The
Anderson Fund has been adopted by the Women's Missionary Union
of the Sixteenth District as its method of aiding deserving young
women in college. The fund is included in the annual budget of
the W. M. U., and it is now one of the largest loan funds in Texas.
Hundreds of girls have received help from this fund.
HARRY PIERCE FUND: Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Pierce of Walnut
Springs founded this fund for boys in memory of their son, Harry
Pierce, who died while a student in Howard Payne College during
the World War.
WALKER FUND: Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Walker have established a
loan fund for worthy boys.
ROBNETT FUND: Friends of Dr. John D. Robnett, Sr., founder
of Howard Payne College, have established a fund in his honor to
be used by both boys and girls.
WEATHERBY FUND: Mrs. J. N. Weatherby of Brownwood has
established a loan fund to aid worthy young men.
JAMES LOWRY SMITH MEMORIAL FUND
Mr. J. A. Walker has given $5,000 as endowment of a loan
fund in memory of his life time friend and partner, the late James
Lowry Smith of Amarillo, Texas. The interest from the fund will
be used for loans to students of outstanding scholarship, character
and personality whose lives may become memorials to a great friend
of Christian Education.
Young people who desire to make application for loans from
these funds should write to the president for application blanks.
