PRE-PROFESSIONAL STUDENTS ARE ADVISED TO
STUDY CAREFULLY THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE SCHOOLS
THEY PLAN TO ENTER.
Credits from seminaries are accepted in English, Bible, Church
History and Greek up to a maximum of thirty semester hours, provided
these credits have not been used in the seminary for the
Master's degree.
TEACHERS CERTIFICATES
Howard Payne College is recognized by the Texas State Department
of Education as a first class institution. Students who
frame their courses of study in accordance with the Texas certificate
law secure certificates to teach in the public schools of Texas.
Howard Payne College is also on the approved list in several
other states.
FOUR YEAR ELEMENTARY CERTIFICATES authorizing the holder
to teach in the first seven grades are issued upon completion of
thirty semester hours, including six hours devoted especially to
elementary education, six hours of English, and a course in Constitutions.
Not more than twelve hours may be taken in one department.Two YEAR HIGH SCHOOL CERTIFICATES authorizing the holder
to teach in any grade of the public schools except the high school
grades of first and second class high schools are issued upon completion
of thirty semester hours, including six hours of education,
six hours of English, a course in Federal and State Constitutions,
and five other three hour courses, not more than twelve hours of
which may be taken in one department. Any course in Education
may be counted on this certificate.
SIx YEAR ELEMENTARY CERTIFICATES authorizing the holder
to teach in the first seven grades of the public schools are issued
