BULLETIN OF HOWARD PAYNE COLLEGE
Music 203B. Keyboard Harmony. Keyboard Harmony may
be taken as a seperate course, for which one hour credit will be
given.
Music 205. Advanced Dictation and Sight-singing. This is a
continuation of aural analysis through the dictation and singing of
more difficult melodies, chromatic chords, modulations, dissonant
intervals plus selected supplementary material. 2 semester hours.
MISCELLANEOUS COURSES
Music 106-107. A Survey of History and Appreciation. This
is a survey of music from its early beginning through its periods of
development to the modern day. Principal composers of classical,
romantic, and modern periods, together with masterpieces of the
different periods will be presented and discussed. 4 semester hours
for entire year, 2 class lessons weekly.
MusIC 108. Class Lessons in Voice. Attention will be given to
breath control, clarity of diction, improvement of tone quality, posture,
and building of a pleasing repertoire. 2 semester hours.
Music 109. Class Lessons in Voice. Special attention will be
given to repertoire building. 2 semester hours.
Music 110. General Chorus. Preparation and presentation of
programs for various occasions, including Christmas concerts provide
the major work in this course. Study will be made of standard
choral forms. Two semester hours credit for continuous year.
MusIC 111. Class Lessons in Piano. This course is offered to
students majoring in band, orchestra, church music, voice, or elementary
education who have had no keyboard study, 2 semester
hours.
Music 201. Choral Conducting. The organization and management
