permanent files of the College and will not be returned to the
student.
Seniors enrolled in Howard Payne College who lack twelve
semester hours or less completing requirements for the Bachelor's
degree may be admitted to classes for graduate credit upon approval
of the Registrar-however, approval must be secured before
registration in classes for such credit. If three or more hours
are taken for graduate credit under these conditions, the student's
total course load shall not exceed 15 hours (16 hours in case of a
four-hour course) per semester, or nine hours during the long
summer term, or three hours during the short summer term.
ADMISSION TO CANDIDACY FOR THE
MASTER'S DEGREE
Admission to graduate study does not imply admission to
candidacy for the Master's degree. The student who expects to
become a candidate for the Master of Education Degree may obtain
from the Director of the Graduate Division an Application
For Admission To Candidacy Form on which he must petition
the Graduate Council for admission to candidacy. This application
must be signed by the student's major and minor professors,
approved by the Graduate Council, and signed by the Director
of the Graduate Division before the student is admitted to candidacy.
This must be done at least twelve weeks before the degree
is conferred, but not before the student has completed fifteen
hours of acceptable graduate work. The responsibility for securing
admission to candidacy at the proper time rests with the
student.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MASTER'S DEGREE
Residence Work. A student must be in residence as a graduate
student at Howard Payne College for a minimum period of
one academic year or its equivalent before the degree can be conferred.Credits by Transfer, Extension Work, and Correspondence.
A student may transfer six semester hours of graduate credit from
another accredited institution of graduate rank, provided, that
the acceptance of the transferred credit does not reduce the minimum
residence period of one academic year. Credit received by-
