At Big Spring 24th
The fortyfirst session of the
Northwest Texas Methodist
Annual Conference will convene
at Big Spring Tex May 24 at
10 a m with Bishop William
C Martin of Dallas presiding
One of the features of the con-
ference will be the appearance
of the Circuit Riders Quartet
with the Rev Roy L Smiths one
of the publishing agents as
speaker on Friday nlghr May
26 celebrating 160 years of
Methodist Publishing House
history
The conference preacher will
be Dr Robert E Goodrich Jr
pastor of the First Methodist
church In Dallas
Purposes of the convention
will be reviewing the years
work in approximately 250
Methodist churches from Big
Spring and Abilene on the south
to Stamford and Vernon on tho
east and north and west to
the Oklahoma and New Mexico
state lines as well as planning
the work for the next year
The climax of the conference
will come on Sunday afternoon
May 28 with the reading of the
appointments of approximately
250 ministers to churches for the
next year
The Methodist church here
will be represented by Arthur
Kendall pastor and Erbln
Crowell and Wilbur Lallcker as
lay delegates
Several notable achievements
have occurred In the local Meth <
odlst church within the last
year Among these a Vacation
Bible School In which approxi-
mately one hundred children
were enrolled a church loyalty

Damaged by Storm
Last Thursday Night
The F C Thomas farm on the
Hill route was damaged by the
tornado which struck Perryton
on Thursday night of last week
Mrs Thomas says the roof of
their farm home was raised an
Inch and a halt by the twister
which also blew away a brand
new granary ruined the floor of
another and did considerable
minor damage to other farm
buildings and property

pastor of the Nazarene church
passed away at his home here
Tuesday morning of a heart
attack
He was born In Kentucky en
July 14 1872 and had been a
residentof Canadian for the put
seventeen years
He is survived by his wife
one daughter Ruth Bruce of
Austin two sons Oren Bruce of
Arcadia Ohio and Ray Bruco of
Hennessey Okla and by three
