Shamrock hospital last Sunday
morning at IM oclock
Ellen Leuna Calhoun George
was born at Rankin Miss on
December IS 1809 Her parents
moved to Texas the following
year In 1883 they settled on
1 Spring Creek near Mobeetle She
was manled to W It George on
May 9 1868 They moved down
on the Gageby In Hemphill
J county where they built up a
1 ranch and lived until Mr Georges
I Mrs Gcorro was a devout
Christian She helped start the
church known as Gataline on the
flageby creek At later dates she
transferred membership to the
churches as Pleasant Valley and
Zybach and was a tharter mem
ber of the Methodist church at
Allison She was preceded In
death by one son who died In
Infancy and one daughter Mrs
W A Powledge who was killed
in a recent car accident
She Is survived by four dough
ters Mrs O T Palmer of Chit
dress Mrs John Brown of Sham
Ira and Mrs W L mil of
Shamrock ami by four sons

Allison Tuesday afternoon with
the Rev Frank Beauchamp of
Shamrock assisted by the Rer

a broken collar bone
The driver apparently lost con-
trol of the car when It went
off the shoulder of the road

KILLED IN CALIFORNIA
Mrs Elizabeth Shlmer of San
DJraos Calif was killed in
car wreck Wednesday afternoon
She Is a sister of Mrs L J Holt
and J J Caudle
The cor In which the75yearold
lady was riding skidded when it
hit some loose gravel and she
was thrown against the wind
shield ner injuries seemed to
bo slight but she passed away
In the ambulance enrouta to the
hospital possibly from a heart
attack
Mrs Shlmer made her home
near Glazier years ago and has
many friends here among the old
timers
Besides her brother and sister
here she is survived by one son
Harvey Shlmer and a daughter
Mrs Addle Jones and by several
grandchildren all of Son Dimas
David Newton son of Mr and
Mrs Chas Newton had his pic-
ture on the front papa of the
AmarlHo News Monday It was
made on the street by a Jtaff
photographer while ruV parents
were shopping

printed and there will be no

The author here temporarily as
pastor of the Sacred Heart church
is one of the foremost writers
on the Southwest He was bom
land reared in New York Ho had

there were twenty applications
for every position and by the
time he would to ready the
number might be doubled
Stanleys pastor told him he
could combine the priesthood and
teaching without going <
waiting list He attended 8t
Johns collegia on the Hudson
followed by further studies at the
Cathollo University of America lit
Washington
After Ordination at the National
Shrine on the campus he re-
turned to St Johns as a pro
fessor of English and philosophy
But poor health forced him to
give up teaching for parish work
in the Land of enchantment He
Immediately interested himself in
the history of New Mexico
His works on that score In

The Dorcas class of the first
Baptist church was entertained in
the home of Mrs Frank Cain
Wednesday afternoon Dec 0th
The entertaining rooms were
decorated in keeping with the
Yuletlde season
Mrs Paul Bryant class teacher
opened the meeting with prayer
followed by group singing
Mrs Cain conducted the busi
ness session The minutes were
read by Mrs H H Marks who
also gave a very appropriate
tlevotjonal on the Life of Mary
the mother of Jesus whom all
generations call bVsssed
Mrs Jim Ownbey gave a reading
the Christmas tree being a mis-
take but to the American kids
the most glorious mistake in the
world Mrs Ed Little added a bit
of humor to the entertainment
with her reading aboutthe crit
maid who whipped the cream
beat the egg stoned a raisin and
in her ire grabbed an Iron poker
and punched the dying fire etc
Each lady brought a gift to
be sent to the childrens home at
