A committee of three was ap-
pointed to present the' resolu-
tion to the proprietor of the so-
called saloon. They did so, and
he rejected it.. In the meantime
the Williamson county officers
had readied the conclusion that
they had jurisdiction in Bell
county, it being within 400 yards
of the county line', (said line run-
ning through the main or Clark
street) and from the fact that pro-i
hibtiion had been declared in
both counties: In consequence
of the above deoislon and upon
complaint of the oitizens, Sheriff
Connell and County Attorney
Neal appeared upon the eoene
and in. a short while the pro-'
prietor and his olerk (a negro)
were, in the hands of the officers.
Two cases were filed against
Perkins, the bond in eaoh case
being put at the limit, .$500,

The bonds were sent to Bell
county .for signers and Sheriff,
Connell carried his man to jail,

Died at Salado.
Killoeij, Tex., Jan. 17, W Wil-
lingham, until recently a resident
of this place,-diod-at Salado yes
torday. The hearse left hero last
night for his remains and on its
return ho will be interred in the
city cemetery. ,
Uncle Wilse, as he was oalled
by evory one, was an old pioneer
of Texas and had many fights
with Indians in an early day.
He attended all reunions and was
well known over Central Texas.

Wednesday afternoon at their
home on the Durant farm, the
little girl of Mr. and ' Mrs. Ben
I Turner, fell off while 'climbing
about the barn, and oaught one
of her arms in a crack, breaking
both bones. It is a bad and pain-
ful wound but the little patient is
doing reasonably well. I

Accident at Taylor.
Taylor, Tex., Jan. 16, This
afternoon at the crosaine of the
International and Groat North-
ern Railroad at the foot of Main
Street, Mrs. Jacob bpeiger was
riding in a buggy. The horse
became unmanageable and was
running at full speed when Jim-
my Hussy, a one-armed flagman,
caughtjhe bridle and was car-
ried ' along by the frightened
horse until he struck a telephone
pole, orushing his skull, from
the effects of which he can not
possibly recover.
Mrs. Snoicer was thrown fif-'
toon or twenty feet and fell on
macadamized, grouud, receiying
injuriosof a very serious and
perhaps fatal character.
Hunting.Lost Boy.
Temple, Tex., Jan. 17, 8earoh
is being made for a lost boy,
John Telfer, aged about 15," a,
son of- A. Q. Telfer of 8an An-
gelo. The boy was last seen in
Temple January 7, and claimed
to be enrouto for San Antonio.
A reward is being offqred for In-
formation concerning the lad,
who has not been seen or heard
of since the date above given.

Damage Suit Affirmed.

The case of Charles Kaase '
against the Gulf, Colorado and .
Santa Fe Railway company,
Bell county, was affirmed yester-
day by the court of civil appeals.
Kaaso brought this suit against
the railway company "for dam-
ages. He alleged in his petition '
tho,t. while ho was a passenger on
defendant's road one of the de-
fendant's employes, the, brake- a
man, committed an assault up-
on him. There was ajury'trial,
resulting in a verdiot for the de-.
fendant company. Tho plain-f a
tiff had transportation to Temple,
and when the train, reaohed that '
place, his final destination; all
passengers got off the train, ex-
cept Kaaso, r who was asleep in
his seatjv He testified that he
had lost considerable sleep for v
several nights, Ho did not wake
up until he was jerked out by
the brakeman, who placed nip-
pers, or handcuffs, on him. The
court held that the train had
stopped long enough for the pas
sengers to get off, sne if on ac-
count of being iatpxicated or for
other reasons the plaintiff did not
get off it became necessary for
defendant's employe to use some.
