W. L. Nelms requested that the Board of Education be ex-
cused from the Conference room. His request was granted.
The report of the Committee on Conference Relations was
read by H. B. Clark, and the report was adopted on motion
of W. T. Singley. (See Report and also Condensed Minutes.)
The report of the Committee of American Bible Society was
read by J. M. Neal. M. A. Turner moved its adoption. J. J.
Morgan, agent of the Bible Society, spoke to the report, as also
did S. Brooks McLean. The report was adopted.
J. A. Whitehurst moved that when the Conference adjourn
it be to meet at 2:30 p. m. The motion prevailed.
On motion of H. Bishop, a reconsideration of the vote fixing
the hour of the day for 11 o'clock was ordered.
S. J. Vaughan moved that the time of selecting place of meet-
ing be postponed indefinitely. Carried.
The class for admission into full connection consisting of A.
D. Cosgrove, L. L. Evans, P. H. Gates, W. B. Gilleland, C. W.
Griffin, J. M. Hays, R. B. Hooper and G. G. Mitchell was called
to the bar of the Conference and after giving satisfactory an-
swers to the disciplinary questions and after the Bishop's ad-
dress, they were admitted into full connection. The Conference
stood and sung "Blest Be the Tie That Binds."
H. A. Boaz, president of Texas Woman's College, spoke, rep-
resenting that institution.
J. W. W. Shuler was granted leave of absence.
W. L. Nelms read the report of the Board of Education. M.
A. Turner moved to amend the report by striking out the ex-
pression "$3,600 for the theological department of S. M. U."
He then spoke to the amendment. J. W. Fort offered an amend-
ment to the amendment providing that $2,400 be taken from the
$6,000 assessment provided for the academic department and
to be applied to the theological department. The amendment to
the amendment was accepted by M. A. Turner and his second.
George F. Campbell spoke to the amendment. W. H. Howard
was on the floor at time of adjournment.
After announcements, the Conference adjourned with the
benediction by H. A. Boaz.
FOURTH DAY-AFTERNOON SESSION.
Conference opened pursuant to adjournment with J. H.
Stewart in the chair by appointment of Bishop McCoy. Hymn
No. 19 was sung, after which Rev. J. G. Miller of the Northwest
Texas Conference led in prayer.
The minutes of the morning session were read and approved.
W. H. Howard, who had the floor on adjournment of the
morning session, was recognized and spoke to the report of the
Board of Education.
T. S. Barcus moved a substitute to the Fort amendment to
the effect that that part of the report bearing on assessment
be referred to the Board of Adjustment with instructions to
leave the educational assessment the same as last year. J. W.
