:d Rev. W. H. Vaughan for voluntary contributions to a special fund
r placing five young ladies from the Orphanage in the following schools:
me in Southwestern University; one in Douglass Schuler school, Waco;
ie at San Marcus Normal; one at the Sam Houston Normal at Hunts-
lie, and one at the Denton Industrial school.
We are very grateful indeed, for the many filled boxes that have
,len received.
On the whole we find the orphanage is prosperous, its management
7ise and economical and the physical, mental, moral and religious de-
elopment of the children well cared for. Almost all of them are mem-
,ers of the church, regular attendants upon the Sunday school and
reaching services, and many of them fast becoming intelligent chris-
ians Among them one who says he is called to the christian ministry.
During the history of this institution about 200 children have passed
hrough the hands of these christian men and women, many of them as-
uming the responsibilities of life. The effect of our christian training
,n these is manifest in the fact that they have made and are making
rood citizens and useful members of society and the church. This has
)een the most prosperous year in the history of the institution. The as-
;essments for the conference year, 1903-1904, was $3,00ooo, paid
;3,062.26.
We recommend that these collections be taken as early in the year
is possible. Also that we heartily endorse the election of Rev. W. H.
Vaughan as business manager and recommend his reappointment.

It is therefore with keenest gratification that we have watched the
steady advance of the local option or prohibition cause in our own great
State. May it never halt or cease until the last stronghold of the rum
devil has been overthrown.
The absolute fairness and democratic spirit of the local option meas-
ure make it, obligatory upon all good citizens, regardless of party affilia-
