The following were reported to have died and were referred to the
committee on Memoirs: E. W. Simmans, J. J. Harris.
The following visitors were introduced to the Conference:
Dr. J. D. Hammond, Secretary Board of Education; Dr. P. H.
Vhisner, Secretary of Churcl Extension; Dr. J. J. Tigert, Book Editor
and Editor of the Methodist Review; Dr. A. F. Watkins, Agent for the
Superannuate Endowment Fund; Dr. A. J. Lamar, Junior Book Agent;
Dr. W. R. Lambuth, Senior Missionary Secretary; Revs. A. Monk, J.
B. Davis, G. G. Hamilton, J. W. Rowlett, D. L. Collie, W. E. Lyons re-
cent transfers, and Rev. Mr. Harding, pastor of the Baptist church in the
city.
Drs. Watkins, Hammond and Lamar addressed the Conference on
behalf of the interests committed to them respectively. During the ad-
dress of Dr. Lambuth the hour for adjourning being about to arrive, H.
Bishop moved an extension of time and it was so ordered.
On motion of O. F. Sensabaugh it was decided that when we ad-
journ it be to meet at 3 o'clock p. m. The Chair appointed Horace
Bishop to preside at the afternoon session.
On motion of M. S. Hotchkiss, the Conference wired a message of
sympathy to Mr. H. J. Hudson, of Lorena, Texas, a former officer of the
Conference who was reported as being very sick.
Bishop Hoss distributed certificates furnished by the Correspond-
ence School, to those who had completed their course of study.
The committee on Public Worship announced that there would be
preaching at the Presbyterian church at 8 p. m. by Dr. J. J. Tigert and
at the same hour in the Methodist church the Joint Board of Finance
would hold an anniversary. After other announcements the doxology
was sung and the benediction pronounced by J. M. Barcus.
FIRST DAY-Afternoon.
The Conference met pursuant to adjournment at 3 o'clock p. m.
Horace Bishop in the chair by appointment of Bishop Hoss. The open-
ing worship was conducted by W. H. Vaughan.5
