Dear Portal friends: Do you enjoy having history at your fingertips? We’ve appreciated your support over the years, and need your help to keep history alive. Here’s the deal: we’ve received a Challenge Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Now it’s time to keep our word and raise matching funds for the Cathy Nelson Hartman Portal to Texas History Endowment. If even half the people who use the Portal this month give $5, we’d meet our $1.5 million goal immediately! All donations are tax-deductible and support Texas history: yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Description:

Two black and white photos of a single story, single family dwelling located on the corner of 301 Wyoming. The elevated cement porch is covered, and has decorative iron work used as columns. A chain link fence surrounds the home, and there is a sidewalk, and park slope that passes the front and to the left side of the home. A street sign marks the street corner, and there is a random scattering of bushes and trees on the park slope and in back of the property.
The second black and white photo of the home is a 3/4 view taken from the right hand side. The saltbox style home has two windows and a door on the right side and a there’s a clear view of the one of the front doors and front windows of the home. A chain link fence surrounds the yard, and an electrical pole and tree partially block the view to the front of the house in the photo. A partial view of the house next door can be seen in the right of the photo and a large tree is visible to the upper right as well.
