xxv Treaty Between Texas
Done at London, the sixteenth clay of November, in the year of
our Lord one thosand eight hundred and forty.

And whereas, the said Treaty as well as the forms of Warrants
and Instructions thereto annexed, have been ratified on both parts,
and the respective ratifications of the same exchanged at London,
on the twenty-eighth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and
forty-two, by Ashbel Smith, Minister Charg6 d'Affaires of the Republic
of Texas, and the Earl of Aberdeen, Her Majesty's Secretary
of State for Foreign Affairs, on the part of their respective Governments:
Now, therefore, be it known, that I, SAM. HOUSTON, President
of the Republic of Texas, have caused the said Treaty and
forms of Warrants and Instructions to cruizers, to be :nade public,
to the end that the same, and every clause and article contained
therein may be observed and fulfilled with good faith by the Republic
of Texas, and the citizens thereof.
In witness whereof, I have caused the Great Seal of
the Republic to be affixed, and hereunto set my
sL. s.] hand. Done at the City of Houston, the sixteenth
day of September, in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and forty-two, and of the
Independence of Texas the seventh.
