The city lias been congested
with visitors again toda the last
day of the great Carnival
Fully fifteen thousand people
witnessed the spectacular parade
last night and exclamations of
delight and surprise were heard
on every hand
Today at 9 a m a grand mili-
tary review took place and this
afternoon at 3 oclock the sham
battle is in progress
At 8 p m another great spec-
tacular parade takes place and
the military ball tonight winds
up the festivities

enjoyed this splendid occasion
with the local members

ladies of the Congregational
church and the deserve praise

vided for the occasion
The address of welcome was de
livcred by Knight W C Camp-

Palestines claims to the widows
and orphans home and he made
out a splendid cao for Pales-
tine

The Schooners Sadie and Lillic
of Prospect Me and the mack-
erel seiner George L Edwards of
Gloucester were wrecked on
Pemaquid Point during the night
and 15 lives were lost
A Narrow Escape
A narrow escape from a serious
conflagration was made last night
About 10 oclock a blaze was dis-
covered in the office of Nance s

was extinguished with very slight
damage The fire company was
not called out

F Davis of Brushy Creek died

In answering a false flro alarm this
morning one of the flro horses slip
pod and fell to tho hard pavingthough
miraculously escaped without serious
injury
