of Mexico City has made the situa-
tion more serious than at first
thought Secretary of State Knox de-
mands that the Mexican government
not only put down all demonstrations
against Americans in Mexico but

day ordered four troops of federal
cavalry to protect the building A

antiFrench outbreak has started in
Tripoli and three hundred French sol-
diers are reported killed The gover-
nor of Tripoli telegraphs that fifteen
thousand Tripolitans are resenting
French intereference with the Turk-
ish rule of the country and are at-
tacking garrisons wherever located
He said many blockhouses manned
by small French outposts have been
captured and the soldiers killed

drivers strike is practically at an
end today a settlement having tenta-
tively been accepted It is expected
the drivers in New Jersey will accept
the terms of the agreement and re-
turn to work Monday Mayor Gaynor
and the Merchants Association are
largely responsible for the settle-
ment The companies have agreed to
take back all strikers except those
who engaged in riots The taxi driv
ersof two companies are still out de-
manding a wage increase and recog-
nition of their union
