Program On China
Ralph Rowntree native son
of Bartlett now a resident of
Dallas was guest speaker on
the program of the Womans
Wednesday Club at its meeting
this week at the home of Mrs.
W. W. Walton. Chinese art the
program topic of the afternoon
Was discussed by the speaker.
Mr. Rowntree spent several
years studying in China and is
recognized as one of the na-
tion's foremost authorities on
Chinese art. He is himself a
prominent Texas artist and is
best known fpr his excellent por-
traits. Four Chinese Scrolls of the
Ming Period (about 900 A. D.)
were displayed by Mr. Rown
tree Wednesday.
Two Chinese legends were
told by Mrs. H. W. Armstrong
at the opening of the program.
As the closing feature of the
program the hostess and Mrs.
B. Y. Daniel both dressed in
Chinese costumes served Chi-
nese tea with a refreshment
plate of Chinese dishes. The
serving table was covered with
a Chinese cloth.
Guests of the Club for the af-
ternoon were Mrs. Logan Me
whinney of Holland Miss Marie
Cronin Mrs. Hugh Kinney and
Mrs. J-. V. Morris.
