Appointed Chairman of the State Ceo

State Convention I have been requested

The offices to be filled at the next Au-
gPBt elections are Governor Lieutenant
Joveruor and Land Commissioner; also
wo members of Congress. It was recom
iffices of government under the Adamses
Harrison or Taylor the very moment this
party attempted to assume administrative
power it became broken and its hosts disever-
ed like chaff before the gale.
Our enemies will find that we hare not
witnessed their history nor noted their an-
ient finesse in. rain. They will find too
in good time that there is no name in the
State however high it may bask in the
-unshine of lanrels that can be successful-
ly used to cajole any respectable portion of
the Democratic party to abandon the notni-
r(vM! of tbeir convention. Indeed the true

As to the number of delegates to be sent
to the State convention it is believed best
to leave this matter entirely with each coun-
ty : the State convention always settling
the mode of making nominations. The
great point will be to adopt such measures
as will secure you a certain and sound rep-
resentation in 'bat body. Every effortshould
be made to obtain true men who will pledge
their personal attendance at the convention.
