Holland Schools Start Monday
School bells will ring for
Holland students on Monday
August 30. at 7:55 A.M. with
the tardy bell ringing at H:00
A M Kindergarten students
will be dismissed at 12:00
noon Primary students In
grades one two. and three
will be dismissed at 2:20.
Only bus students will
remain on campus after that
dismissal Intermediate
k students in grades four. five
and six will be dismissed at
1 2 55 P M All other students

with the buses leaving for
their routes shortly
thereafter
To insure a safer flow of
traffic parents bringing
students to school in the
mornings and. picking them
up in the afternoons are
asked by school officials to
approach the campus on
Rose Lane and exit on
Hackberry Kond. Huses will
load and unlaod on the south
sideoflhegym.
Repairs
Extensive repairs have
been made to the buildings on
the Holland campus.
Classrooms in the elemen-
tary and high schools have
been painted and the floors
waxed. Hoof repairs have
been made on the gym and
new carpet was installed in
the enfetorium. Exterior
painting was also completed.
At the present restrooms are

Lunch Fees
Parents are asked to send
breakfast lunch and milk
money to school by their
children on Mondays only or
on the first school day of the
week following holidays.
Parent' cooperation will be
greatly appreciated as this
bookkeeping activity is time
consuming and takes away
from the teaching day.
Parents of elementary
students are being asked to
send one check per child with
the number of lunches to be
purchased designated on the
checks.

the University of Texas in Austin recently The girls took a second place ribbon

Past Mayors To Serve
As Parade Marshall's
Bartlett Chamber of Com-
merce will honor two of the
past Mayors of Batlett in the
Homecoming Parade Satur-
day. To be honored as past
mayor's will be Cy Young
and Dr. George C. Fowler
who will be serving as
Parade Marshall's in the
Homecoming Parade Satur-
day. Cy Young was the 13th
Mayor of Bartlett serving
terms from 1958 -1962.
Dr. Fowler ob the 15th
Mayor of Batlett serving
from 1066 1972.
Vision Screening
Vision screening is
required for students en-
tering the Holland schools for
the first lime. School per-
sonnel who have received
special training for this
purpose will begin screening
new students nnd teacher
referrals shortly after school
begins. Further referrals will
be made accordingly for
those needing additional
testing by the family's
ophthalmologist or ob-strctrician.

money a sack lunch or come
with n parent to make
arrangements to pay for your
lunch. You will not be served

Schools To
Begin Friday
Students in the Bartlett
Public Schools will return to
school Friday August 27th
to begin their 1982-83 school
term.
School will begin at 8:05
and the tardy bell will ring at
8:10 a.m. A full day of classes
will be held Friday and the
lunchroom will be open.
Teachers in the Bartlett
schools began Tuesday to
prepare for the opening day
of school on Friday
All Bartlett high school
students grades 9 thru 12
who have not yet registered
are asked to report to the
high school office at 1 p.m.
Thursday August 26.
It is very Important that
students who have not yet
registered to do so Thursday
afternoon.
Grades 7 and 8 will
register Friday on the first
day of school.
Library Will
Give Prizes
September 4
The summer reading
program at the Teinert
Memorial Library in Bartlett
is drawing to a close and
Librarian Mary Thomas has
announced that prizes will be
awarded at 10:00 A.M. on
Saturday September 4.
The reading program had a
"Space Capers" theme and
will offer space-age prizes. It
officially comes to an end
August 31
Not normally open on
Saturday the library will be
open nt 10:00 A.M. Sept. 4 for
the award presentation. All
those who participated in the
program are urged to attend.
Bartlett Offers Fun
This Friday Evening
Six Homecoming Queen
Contestants and 23 Tiny Tot
contestants will compete at
the American Legion Hall
this Friday August 27
beginningat7:30P.M.
Also on the agenda Friday
eneving is a "womanless
wedding" which will feature
many local beauties and not-so-beauties.
Admission to all
events is only $1.00 for adults
and 50 cents for students.
Queen candidates include
Lori Lynn Ferguson
daughter of Mrs. and Mrs.
Virgil R. Ferguson of Bar-
tlett. She is. 17 and has been a
class officer for 2 "years.
Sylvia Campos daughter
of Mrs. and Mrs. Joe Campos
of Bartlett is 10 years old and
has been active in the Future
Homemakers and a class
favorite.
A grnduate of Bartlett High
School Anna Marie Luna is
18 years of age and the
daughter of B.R. and Jnnie
Luna of Bartlett. She was a
cheerleader while in high
school and active in other
organizations.
Ree Gndison 18 years of
age Is a graduate of Bartlett
High School and the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lee
Gadison of Bartlett. While in
school she was active in
sports and HECE.
Melissa Hicks is the
daughter of Mr and Mrs
Alan Giclbunt of Davilla At
lfi years of age. she is a BUS
cheerleader and an Out-
standing Member of the Sons
of Herman Dance Club.
Brenda Tovar daughter of
Alex & Patsy Tovar of
Bartlett Is 10 years of age a
BUS Cheerleader and is an
officer and active member of
the Future Homemakers.
Contestants were en-
tertained with a get-
acquainted supper in the
Community Room of the
Schwertner State Bank on
Thursday August 5. Ideas
were discussed concerning
presentation of the contestants.
The girls were again
treated to a luncheon at the
Tyler House Restaurant in
Snlado on August 12.

changed somewhat from
prior years This year the
parade will start from the
City Hall as usual but after
crossing the railroad tracks
it will turn north on Evie
Street go three blocks to
Allen Street: turn east and
proceed to the high school
parking lot where it will
disband
The Fort Hood Bank plans
