A report of a soil test made
for Mr Ladis Stalmach Rt. I
Rogers has been received by the
county agents office. This anal-
ysis can bo taken as father
typical of Bell county. This soil
shows a P H of 7.9 when 6.(1 to
7.0 is neutral every soil below
this .point is acid and every soil
abovo is alkline. Practically all
soils in Bell county" aro alkaline.
There is no lime requirement.
Nitrogen was .072 per cent.
Organic matter 1.6 was pres-
ent. Phosporic acid was available
at the rate lof 1.8 parts per mil-
lion. Potash was available at the
rato of 2.8 parts per million.
Total carbohates was 3.1 per-
cent while total soluablo salta
was 196 parts per million.
Hero aro the recomendations
made by M. K. Thornton agri-
cultural chemist for A & M Col-
lego Extension Service.
"This soil is adequately sup-
plied with lime and potash. Tt is
very low with respect to phos-
phoric ncid. It is somewhat low
in regard to nitrogen and organic
matter. For the control of root
rot the best treatment that can
be applied to this soil would be
200-800 pounds of 20 super-
phosphate seeded To Huban
clover or one of tho biennial
sweet-clovers to be turned under
at full bloom.
For commercial fertilizer it is
suggested that either 100 lbs. of
ammonium nitrate or its equiv
alent should bo applied."
Any oho wishing special in-
formation on their particular
soils can got it from- the County
Agents office in Belton.
Mrs. Jack Daniels and son of
Round Rock were Sunday visit-
ors of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bridges.

THE ACCEPTED METHOD of making 'high quality lubricating oil
has been to blend a heavy oil! f dp heavy to be a satisfactory lubri-
cant with another ojlvtoolightto give satisfactory performance.
tltmwgh the best process known1 up to now the resulting mixture is a
compromise and as is usuallyjhe case with compromises it naturally-
. suffers from the adverse effect iff both of its component parts.
CITIES SERVICE SCIENTJTS cfeave discovered a rrocejsu which does
away with the compromiseand thus produces a lubricating oil superior to
f . any on the market. This is done by taking a "heart-cut" of the lubricating
' oil' fraction in a barrel of crude '"retaining tho advantages of the older
. methods whilo avoiding theft disadvantages.
"THE BRAND NEW SCIENTIFIC PROCESS by which this "heart-cut" is
. achieved is the unusual feature of ftHe new $4200000.0' Cities Service
't lube oil plant (at Lake Charles. Louisiana) the newest and largest and
most efficient plant of its kind-in the world. This plant is now "on stream"
and its products have exceeded the highest expectations of the scientists.
The new "heart-cut" oil is avjailablg.at Cities Service stations another
'. step forward in providing the-moTori'st and those who opei-ate machinery
; of all kinds a lubricant better-in. action and resulting in lower operating-
costs. . .
