their
Delegation Discusses
School Change In
Salado District
A sweeping school consolida-
tion proposal that would join
Salado Jarrell Holland Bart-
lett and Florence in one district
high school was discussed Mon-
day night by the Salndo school
board.
The proposal was made Mon-
day when a delegation from Sa-
lado met in Austin with offic-
ials of the Texas Education
Agency to discuss what the Sa-
lado district might do to main-
tain standards for state accred-
itation. Marvin Hill superintendent
of the Salado schools stated
"that a number of Salado citi-
zens are interested in bringing
out the fact that there is much
to be gained financially from
such a proposal because of the
"incentive aid" that would ac-
crue to the receiving school. He
pointed out that if the Jarrell
Holland Bartlett Salado and
Florence union were effected
an entirely new school would be
built and the "incentive aid"
would go into the new school."
Incentive aid is the savings
which the state gains with
elimination of each district.
The amount of incentive aid
Hill stated1 ranges from $20-
000 to $25000 per year for each
eliminated district. The state
posses these savings on to the
receiving school district for 10
years.
