Our neighbors to the west
Schwertner did it again? When
we arrived (around 2 p. m.) cars
were parked in all directions.
More than a thousand (wo esti-
mate) were on hand to celebrate
the second annual affair. Many
old timers and former residents
were seen in groups getting re-
acquainted while listening to the
different bands and
the dancers.
This celebration is an out-
growth of the Schwertner Com-
munity Improvement group
which is composed of the best
people you'll ever meet. Many of
the residents arc descendants of
the Jate Mr. and Mrs. A. Sch-
wertner. Congratulations folks 1

out of reach for Bartlett.
On June 4th the J. C's travel-

In a home game Monday ev-

their first loss of the season. If
you missed seeing this game
you missed a good one. Again
the J. C's grabbed a 1st inning
lead of 1-0 with the first batter
short stop Charles Crathers
taking a base on balls right
fielder Rob Ford slapping out
a single then center fielder Den-
nis Thomas punching n double
bringing Charles in to score. J.
C's starting pitcher Eddie Scott
put Florence batters dowp al-
most in order through the 4th
inning then suffered cramps in
his pitching arm and had to sit
out the remainder of the game.
Eddie faced 17 batters struck

Lindemann. Fifth inning play
saw Florence first baseman K.
