One of the landmarks of
Bartlett is the Bailey Home
located at 609 W. Clark
Street. It is presently occupied
by Mrs. James Bailey.
Tho Victorian house was
built in 1900 by the owners C.
C. Bailey and his wife Beulah
Witte Bailey. A few major
changes have been made in
side the home but the outside
architectural lives remain as
in the original plan.
The house will be open for
the public to visit Wednesday
morning June 30th at 10:30
a. m. until noon as a Bicenten-
nial event when the Nation
celebrates "Happy Birthday
USA - 1976".
A very unusual mineral
rock and fossil collection is
owned by Mrs Ralph Clear-
man who has invited the pulq
ue to view them in her home
at 1044 W. Clark Street as one
of the events to help thc Na-
tion celebrate Wednesday un
til noon.

Leo McGlothlin of Duncan-
ville former Bartlett resident

15th in Dallas.
Mr. McGlothlin died Sun-
day June. 13 in a Dallas hos-
pital. .
SurVivors include his wife
Mrs. Gladys Goodnight Mc-
Glothlin of Duncanville; two
daughters; two grandchildren;
one sister Mrs. M. Y. Cowart
of Duncanville; two brothers
B. W. McGlothlin of De'Soto
and Joe McGlothlin of Mes-
quite. Doyle McGlothlin and Mrs.
Milford Watson were in Dal-
las to attend the funeral ser-

6 p. m. The course is open to
high school students and

of jute and a 6 inch or 8 inch

gular monthly meeting.
John Mark Pumphrcy and
Brenda Janke will run the pool
and rates will be 75 cents for
children through 12 years of
ai?e and $1.25 over 12 years old.
No season ticket will be offered
this season. Hours will be 2 p.
m. until 8 p.m. and the pool will
be closed on Mondays. Those
desiring swimming lessons are
asked to contact Brenda Jankc.
Chief of Police Horace L.
White submitted his usual writ-
ten report of police activity
since the last meeting. He also
reported that Officer Dewayne
Ciocr was resigning to accept a
higher paying job. Councilmen
agreed to advertise in the Tem-
plo and Austin papers for a
patrolman.
A report was made on the
dump truck which is in need of
repairs. Councilmen agreed to
replace the motor or whatever
was necessary to fix it.
Mayor Pro-Tom Norman Tha-
ler reported little or no progress
in tho cleaning of the Cemetery.
No definite action was taken at
this time.
Councilmen voted to accept
the bjH of Robert Hill to repair
tho utility building roof. The-
amounf'was $1540.00 plus cost
of lumber nnd 'labor to replace
rotten boards' in the roof.
Texas Municipal League Re-
tirement System was discussed
and it was agreed to ask a re-
presentative to present a pro-
gram. Application for water and
sewer operator was discussed
and it was agreed to hire an ap-
plicant if terms could b0 ar
ranged.
Raises for city employees
were studied and suggested in
creases were presented. They
arc to be calculated against av-
ailable funds and final action is
to be taken at a later date.
Bids for Library furniture and
"ixtures was viewed and council-
men voted to accept the bid of
fjewellen Office Furniture &
Supply Company of Temple in
- amount of . $7340.00 for
hnlvirg installed and furniture
with the Toinert Estate to pay
$5000.00 and the City paying
the balance.

At Baptist Church
Commencement exercises
Friday evening climaxed a
weeks Vacation Bible School '
nt the First Baptist Church.
Material and handwork was
displayed of each students
work.
Thero was a total enrollment
of 85 pupils with a daily ave-
rage attendance of 81 Twenty-
six workers assisted with the
Bible School.
An offering was received
each morning which will be
sent to the Texas Baptist
Childrens Home at Round
Rock.
Refreshments were served
each morning durinir VBS
with the group enjoying a pic-
nic on the final day.
City Receives
Sales Tax Check
City of Bartlett received a
sales tax chck last week in the
amount of $3062.05
This sales tax check was for
thp second quarter of the year.
