coming are underway for Oct.
8th and 9th. The B.H.S. - Flor-
ence football game is scheduled
for Friday Oct. 8th. At 10 a.m.
Saturday the usual parade down
Clark Street will b0 held and
lunch will follow at the Ameri-
can Legion Hall. Class reunions
are being planned for the after
noon and a dance will b0 held
Saturday evening.
Daryl Stcglich Bartlett Cham-
ber of Commerce president will
serve as general chairman.
Those planning class reunions
are urged to get on the ball and
contact class members.
Mrs. Ida Jesse Rush of Hous-
ton a former Bartlett resident
renewed her subscription to the
Bartlett Tribune this week and
wrote: "I enjoy the paper very
much although I have resided in
Houston since 1920. My father
the late G. A. Jesse worked for
the late John Bartlett and plow-
ed the land where the City of
Bartlett is now located.
The late Mrs. W. C. (Alma)
Teinert was my sister and I
am pleased that she left so much
of her estate to Bartlett our
Tiome town.
My son who resides in Seat-
tle his wife and I were in Bart-
lett about six weeks ago to see
the Recreational Center of the
St. John Lutheran Church and
the City Library.. We also tour-
ed the Goodnight Funeral Cha-
pel which was formerly the
Teinert home and some of their
other property. k
I hope to visit Bartlett again
soon as it is really my old home
to-wn."
Mrs. Walter L. Burt of Dal-
las spent the week-end with
Mrs. Edward Neitsch.
Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Brune of
Lake Travis and Mrs. Christine
Mason of Belton were Bartlett
visitors Monday.
Mrs. Betty Wolf returned
home during the week-end from
a ten-day visit in Austin. On
returning home she learned that
her 3 year-old granddaughter
was run over by a car in Denver
Colo on August 20th and re-
mains in a serious condition.

Jaycees Begin
Work On Park
Jaycees began work Satur-
day on the park area where
the Alamo Theatre formerly
was located but work was
hampered later in the day due
to the shower of rain. The cir-
cle was almost poured when
the rain started.
Jaycees plan to do some
backfill work and have the
area graded for drainage.
Plans are to plant grass on the
lot and later some trees and
a water system is to be install-
ed. School To Dismiss
Early On Fridays
Supt. Travis Smith announ-
ced this week that short per-
iods will be used at school on
Fridays of each football game
and school will be dismissed
at 2:15 p. m. each Friday for a
Pep Rally. Buses will run im-
mediately after the Pep Rally.
The first two periods on
Friday will be regular periods
to enable l)he Bartlett students
to be on schedule with the
Granger V.O.E. school.

Funeral services for Mrs.
Walter (Elizabeth) Via 90 local
resident were conducted at 2
n.m. Monday in the First Unit-
ed Methodist Church with Rev.
John Clifford officiating. Bur-
ial was in the Bartlett City
Cemetery.
Mrs. Via died Saturday in a
Temple hospital.
She was born Oct. 22 1885
near Marshall Texas. She was
a member of the First United
Methodist Church in Bartlett.
Preceding her in death was
her husband Walter Via on Jan.
10 19G8 and two sons.
Survivors include four sons
Ralph Via and Roy Via both of
Buchanan Dam E. T. (Buck)
Via of Levelland and R. L.
(Pod) Via of Pasadena: three'
daughters Miss Helen Via and
Mrs. Robbie Roome both of
Houston and Mrs. Reba Sebas-
tian of Moody; 11 grandchildren;
6 great-grandchildren; and a
number of nieces and nephews.

Bartlett Academy
Open Football
Season Friday
Bartlett and Academy get the
1976 football season underway
in an 8 p.m. game there Friday
night.
Academy will be hoping- to
improve on a winless season last
year while Bartlett was 3-6-2.
Academy .changed from Dis-
trict 28A to 11A this year and
has a new coach in Jimmy In-
man. The Bees have 14 returning
lettermen. Red Chancy will lead
the Bee T at quarterback. Tim
Prcin returns at halfback and
175 pound senior Ken Lueck is
at fullback. Mickey Tomlin re-
turns at end and will handle the
place kicking.
Gene Carter returns at guard
and Steve Money returns to the
offensive line.

Approves Budget
Budget for the 1976-77 school
year was presented and approv-
ed by trustees at the August
meeting of the school board.
There was no tax increase for
the 1976-77 school year. The
school district will continue to
access on GO percent of the ac-
cessed value at $1.50 per $100
valuation.
The bid of $1396.00 from
David Wolf was accepted for
j heating the Junior High boys

recently moved in on the Inter-
mediate school campus.
