the third year of college work was given and in 1925-26 Mc-
Murry became a Class A Senior College, granting the B. A.
degree. Since then the College has added the B. S. degree, also
and credits from McMurry are accepted at par value by all
colleges and universities of the State. Students who have
transferred McMurry credits to schools outside the state have
received full recognition of their work.
ATHLETICS
Athletics carried on in McMurry College during each year
are of four forms; namely, football, basketball, track, and ten-
nis. These sports are open for all students to participate in.
The aim of the College in fostering athletics is, not only to
promote physical development but to create and cultivate a
spirit of equality, co-operation, and clean sportsmanship
throughout the student body.
During the short history of the school an outstanding re-
cord has been made in athletics. In football there has been
one championship won, and in the other years the team has
always ranked near the top. Interest in basketball and track
is increasing rapidly each year. McMurry has always put out
winning teams in tennis also.
Athletics are under the direction of men of excellent
training and who are anxious to see sports placed on the high-
est plane possible.
Included in the student activity fee is an activity ticket,
the payment of which entitles each student to a season ticket
to all inter-collegiate athletic contests on the campus.
Intercollegiate sports at McMurry are governed by the
rules of the Texas Conference of which the college is a member.
The Indian Head Association is made up of those men
who have won their letters, in accordance with the regulations
of the athletic committee, in intercollegiate contests.
