METHODS OF ADMISSION
(1). By Presention of Credits from an Accredited School
-High school graduate who present as much as fifteen units
of work done in a high school accredited by the State Depart-
ment of Education, or by the proper accrediting authorities,
if the school be in another state, provided the units presented
fall within the above list and embrace the required courses, will
be admitted to the Freshman year of College work.
(2). By State Teacher's Certificates: Applicants holding
a State teacher's certificate of the first grade will be granted
the following eight and a half units toward entrance: 3 in
English, 2 in Algebra, 1 in Geometry, 1 in Ancient History, I
in Modern History, and 1/2 in Civics. Holders of State perma-
nent certificates are entitled to these eight and one half units,
and in addition 4 other units without specifications of subjects.
Additional credits needed for entrance may be had by exam-
ination.
(3). Admission by Examination: Applicants who have
not been graduated from affiliated schools, and who do not
have to their credit as many as 15 affiliated units, or who do
not possess a teacher's certificate, may be admitted to the
Freshman year by examination. Entrance examinations on
various subjects may be taken under the direction of the State
Department of Education at the various county seats of Texas,
or at certain designated high schools in May of each year; or
the examinations may be taken at McMurry College at the be-
ginning of any semester. See college calendar. A note-book
is required in connection with examinations in science.
(4). By Individual Approval: Upon the approval of the
Dean an applicant over twenty-one years of age may be ad-
mitted to the Freshman class without examination upon the
following conditions:
(a) An applicant must furnish evidence of good
moral character.
(b) He must furnish evidence that he has the equiv-
alent of a standard high school education and
that he has sufficient ability and strength of
purpose to do college work.
