Education may be counted as a major toward the B. S.
degree, but it is usually better for students to major in the
subjects they expect to teach and to minor in Education. Stu-
dents majoring in this department will be required to present
a minimum of thirty-six semester hours credit in Education,
twenty-four of which must be advanced. The courses should
be so chosen as to introduce the student to the various phase,
of Education and to lay a foundation for graduate work and
specialization in this field. Six semester hours of advanced
work in two of these three subjects, methods, observation, and
practice teaching, must be in secondary Education. The fol-
lowing courses will be required of Education majors: 132 Ad-
vanced Methods of High School Teaching; 137 Practice Teach-
ing; 138 Tests and Measurements; and 41 Public School Ad-
ministration, or 131 History of Education.
The student majoring in this department should consult
the Head of the Education Department concerning minor re-
quirements.
Eighteen semester hours, six of which must be advanced,
are required of students minoring in Education, but is is re-
commended that students minoring in Education fulfill the re-
quirements for a permanent high school certificate.
