F320He was in Provost Guard Co. in Georgia,
World War I.
In 1919 Grover returned home on the
Brazos and married Zelma Martin, daughter
of John T. and May Martin. Their first home
was near White Rock. He farmed and helped
his brothers farm their land.
Grover and Zelma had six children: Roose-
velt, Melton, Lester, Lillian May, Hazel, andJohn and Mary Eddings - 1952
John Richard Eddings was born 1887 to
Julius W. and Louisa Eddings in Arkansas.
He married Mary Ardenia Eddings, daughter
of Evan Richard and Martha Ann Eddings,
in 1909 in Johnson County, Texas. One of
their first homes was located on the Brazos
River. Their first child, Lorena, was born in
that little house.
The family moved to Oklahoma but re-
turned several years later to Eulogy, Bosque
County, Texas and lived on a sandy farm.
There they had a good house with nice cedar
trees in the yard. A son, Floyd Marvin
Eddings, was born there, 1924. After another
move to Oklahoma, the family settled in
Littlefield, Texas for several years.
Children of John Richard and Mary A.
Eddings are: Lorena Mae (1910- Eulogy,
TX.), married Everett F. James, nine chil-
dren; Dola Ann (1912, Oklahoma) married
Denton L. Jones, five children; Ethel (1914,
Johnson County, Tx) married George L. Hill,
six children; Robert Wilson (1922, Oklaho-
ma) married Alta Dobbins, two children;
Floyd Marvin (1924, Eulogy, Tx.) married
Pauline Barbaccia, two children, died 1981.
Also Joyce Marie (1926, Oklahoma), married
Don A. McPherson four children; Jack
Dempsey (1928, Weinert, Tx.) married Jen-
nie A. Tosh, three children; Howard (1930,
Littlefield, Tx.) married Joy Nell Lewis,
three children; Bettie Jean (1931, Littlefield,
Tx) married Henry E. Mason, five children;
Margie Joan (1933, Littlefield, Tx.) married
Gene A. Hunt, seven children; Lorena Ed-
dings James died 1970 and Ethel Eddings
Hill died 1963, both in California.
Sons Robert and Floyd served in the Air
Force during World War II, and son Gilbert
served in the Navy. Howard later served in
the Air Force also.
John and Mary moved to California and
settled in Delano in 1942. They celebrated
their Golden Wedding Anniversary there in
1959 with all their children present. Mary
died the next April and John followed herGrover and Zelma Eddings

Grover Preston Eddings was born 1889 to
Julius and Louisa Eddings at Batesville,
Arkansas. He was seventeen years old when
he moved to the Brazos Point community of
Bosque County, Texas. There he helped his
father farm until 1918 when he went to
Alamagordo, New Mexico to join the Army.
Juanita. (See separate stories on each child.)After Grover's mother died, he and his
family moved in with Julius. Zelma took care
of the house while Grover helped his father
farm until he died in 1930. Grover is buried
at Brazos Point Cemetery. Zelma took their
children and moved in with her parents, the
John Thomas Martins.
