Map Showing Zealous Mission Efforts
It's a long way to Timbucktu or even McMurry for that matter.
Missionarying
"They call us to deliver
"Their land from error's chain."
A poll was recently conducted
by the Mission Study class at Abi-
lene Christian to determine the
number of ACC graduates actively
engaged in the great mission effort
of the church.
Anticipating an amazing number
the class has prepared a large
world map to hang in the hall of
the administration building to in-
form both students and visitors
on campus of the number of grad-
uate! engaged in this worthy en-
deavor and of the great heritage
of the glorious school.
The brightly painted map hung
in full view of the thousands at-
tending lectureship this spring
proclaiming the devotion and ded-
ication of those who call ACC their
alma mater.
The college has always stressed
the mission effort and has received
notice even from the aged and sag-
ed cafeteria hostess for this great
work.
Many courses are offered to en-
courage students to enter the field.
Among those taught to insure com-
munication between missionaries
and natives are Latin and Zulu.
A new course to be taught by
Dr. Johnson of the Bible staff will
be offered next fall in "How to
Convert a Cannibal Before He
Converts You Into Stew."
Courses are also offered to ded-
icated coeds. The Home Economics
Department's "How to Catch a
Missionary" is a fine example.
Another effort encouraging stu-
dents to enter the mission field is
being carried on by the smaller
national groups who are planning
to go en maase to certain foreign
lands.
Prominent among these are such
groups as "Gospel Guadalahara"
"Target Timbuckto" and "Monte
Carlo or Bust."
With all this preparation and
encouragement it would be well
to note the amazing figures
brought out on this map.
Also contributing to the mission
effort is Earle McMillan balding
Bible professor at ACC who is
planning a tour of the Bible lands
next summer. McMillan notes that
since the supply of missionaries is
running low he plans to inspire
a number of students to enter the
field.
"I'm going to take them to the
Holy Lands and keep them there
chortles McMillan. "And besides
after our side trip to Paris who
would want to return? Not me!"
