Pedro Rlvas a student from
Mexico was elected president of
the International Club at the first
meeting of the year held last
Tuesday at the home of Dr. and
Mrs. J. W. Treat.
After an Introductory talk by
club member Jack Belo of the
Philippine Islands officers were
elected. Those serving with Rivas
are Bernard Straker Canada
vice president: Betty Dill Ber
muda secretary-treasurer; Eldine
Looper Italy reporter; and Mar-
gie Alegre Philippine Islands
historian. Co-sponsors of the club
are Dr. J. W. Treat and Mrs. Ben
Bessent of the language depart
ment.
Plans for club activities were
discussed and it was decided that
regular meetings would be held
on the first and third Thursday
of each month at 8 p.m.
Following the meeting refresh-
ments were served by Mrs. Treat
assisted by Mrs. Albert Kleppe.
Approximately 30 members at-
tended the meeting representing
seven foreign countries and the
United States.

Pandoras a girls' social club
will have a reception Saturday
afternoon from 4-5 p.m. in Mc-
Kinzie parlor. All girls eligible for
social club membership are in
vited to attend.
President Marilyn Fletcher
will explain the purposes and
(unctions of the club and will
welcome those who are interested
in becoming members. Informa-
tion will be given as to the steps
(or admission.
' A program of entertainment
has been planned and refresh-
ments will be served. Dress will
be semi-formal.

a meeting held last week.

secretary; and Glenda Heunsel
treasurer.
Plans are now being made for
the annual homecoming dinner
to be held October 31.

bursar as active sponsors while
all business administration teach
ers are honorary sponsors.

The Future Teachers- of Ameri-
ca get together this evening at
5:30 for a wiener roast at Cobb
Park.
The picnic is free to all mem-
bers of the FT A an organization
for education majors and those
interested in the teaching field.
In charge of the commitee on
food for the outing is Lou Alice
Chappell Houston senior.
The entertainment committee is
headed by Marilyn Fletcher Abi-
lene senior.

Two new sponsors met with
the Frater Sodalis for the second
time last Wednesday night as the
club concluded its preparation
for the semester's "Bid Night."
Both Dr. Orvllle Filbeck and
L. D. "Bill" Hilton have been as-
sociated with the club previously
as Dr. Filbeck sponsored the club
several years ago while Mr. Hil-
ton is an "ex."
Bill Hilton serves the school in
the canacitv of assistant Bursar.
and Dr. Filbeck is head of the
Education Department.
A vote of thanks was also (riven
to last year's sponsors Bill Deck
er who is at present in Japan
teaching at Ibarakl Christian Col-
lege and F. M. Churchill head of
the agriculture department who
asked to be relieved of the position.

jans men's social club viewed
slides and motion pictures made
by James Segrest on his tour of
Russia this past summer.
Plans were discussed for the
Oct. 6 bid night and for the
Homecoming display.
Officers elected for this year
are Jim Armstrong Midlothian

Louisiana senior vice president;
Glen Matthews Oklahoma senior
secretary - treasurer; Lynnon
Grant Abilene senior sgt.-at-arms;
and Bruce Evans Snyder

At the first meeting held last
Thursday the club decided to en-
ter a project in the Homecoming
displays and a committee was
appointed for further planning.
Possibilities of field trips during
the year were also discussed.

Council Head
The Edwards Dormitory coun-
cil was elected with Gary Ander-
son Wcatherford senior to servo
as council chairman. Moses Os-
born Chickopee Falls Mass.
sophomore will be the secretary
for this year's council.
The four other members of the
council are Mark Hobbs Wichita
Falls junior Gary Hatfield soph-
omore from Wichita Kans. Ken
Shollcnbargcr Colorado Springs
Colorado sophomore and Gary
Taliaferro from Fort Worth.
Rex Vermillion Assistant Su-
pervisor of Edwards Hall is ad-
visor to the council.
The dorm council serves to
stimulate better dormitory life
by helping to regulate the spirit-
ual social and scholastic phases
of living.
The council is considering be-
ginning this year to have socials
when girls can visit for coke
parties.
The council says there is a
chance that Edwards will have a
formal Christmas banquet to
highlight this semester's activity.

At Tea Party
A tea honoring. Miss Jewell
Watson head of the English De-
partment was given last Satur-
day night in the home of Miss
Clara Mae Ellis English professor.
Refreshments were served from a
table covcrd with a white linen

Miss Ellis yard were arranged
throughout the house.
