Description: This photograph of Dr. Carl G. Roberts of Chicago is part of the Dr. Edwin D. Moten collection. Dr. Moten was the first African-American physician in the City of Denton. A cropped version of this photograph appears in the 1930 National Medical Association Program when Dr. Roberts was the former president of the Association and a member of the Program Committee. The National Medical Association was established at a time when African-Americans were not permitted to join the American Medical Association. Dr. Roberts is dressed in a dark suit and tie with a handkerchief in the top pocket.

The field was constructed in 1913, and in 1927 steel stands were constructed to seat 2,200 on the west side of the field. The football field was part of "Eagle Park."
