Collection Sketch. Located in Abilene, Texas, McMurry College was founded in 1923 by the United Methodist Church. Offering bachelors' degrees in the fine arts, humanities, social and natural sciences, business, education, and nursing, McMurry College was renamed McMurry University in October 1989. An institutional history, Pride of our western prairies, was published by the college in 1989.

Most photographs are black and white. Early volumes have colored borders; some volumes have colored pages.

Some volumes include an index. Most volumes are dedicated to an individual faculty or staff member.

Collection includes 1936 Texas Centennial edition and 1974 50th Anniversary and 1999 75th Anniversary editions, celebrating landmarks in the history of the institution.
