Childen's Matinee Show

Clean-up week

Description: Photograph of "Clean Up Week" at the Rembert Theater, as noted in handwriting on the back of the photograph and on the banner to the left of the theater. There is a large pile of trash in front of the theater, including cans, boxes, buckets and other miscellaneous items. The theatre held the event to promote attendance at the movies and clean the streets of Longview at the same time. Each citizen that brought trash to be dumped in front of the theater was rewarded with a free ticket.

[LeTourneau Industries]

Description: Photograph of one of the large bulldozers designed and built by Robert G. LeTourneau of Longview, Texas. LeTourneau designed and built machinery on such a large scale that his machinery was used all over the world in large projects, such as clearing land for building dams, airports and heavy offshore oil rigs. LeTourneau was a pioneer in his field, holding almost 300 patents for inventions. In the photograph, the bulldozer is parked next to an automobile.
