The boy is Andreas Berndt, aged 7 years; he stands to the right of the chair and has one of his hands on the back. He is wearing a white shirt, a bow tie, dark shorts, and stockings. Marie, who was 3 years old at the time, stands on the other side of the chair from her brother. She is wearing a white dress, stockings, and two bows in her hair.
