Description: Color copy photograph of a black and white portrait of three children from the Berndt family. They are posed with a textured background behind them, an elegant rug beneath their feet, and a chair in the center of them. There is one boy and two girls, one of whom is an infant. The boy is Andreas Berndt, aged 7 years; he stands to the right of the chair and has one of his hands on the back. He is wearing a white shirt, a bow tie, dark shorts, and stockings. Marie, who was 3 years old at the time, stands on the other side of the chair from her brother. She is wearing a white dress, stockings, and two bows in her hair. Ingeborg, the youngest sibling, is seated in the ornate chair in a white baby's gown. She was 3 months old at the time. A note on the back of the photograph says that these are H.J. Berndt's children.

Description: Certificate of naturalization given to Helvig Jensen Berndt by the United States Department of Commerce and Labor. A black and white illustration of an eagle emblem is at the very top, flanked by the title of the document. The text on the page gives the names of Helvig's children and wife as well as a short physical description of Helvig. There is hand-written text on the back of the document which reads, "H. J. Berndt is U. S. Citizen since May 4, 1908."

Description: Photograph of an alter and baptismal font inside the Ansgar Church of Danevang, Texas. The shaft of the baptismal front has been ornamented with rounded bands and supports a rounded basin. Behind it, a wooden step leads up to an alter flanked by wooden furniture. The alter is composed of a wooden table covered by a tablecloth with an ornamented design trim. Two floral arrangements and two candle-holders are on each side of the tabletoo. A seven-branched candelabrum has been placed directly on the center of the table, which stands before a large framed painting of religious icons engaging with a leaning figure. The painting's frame is topped by a cross. Hand-written text in pencil on the back of the photograph cannot be read with certainty. A black stamp indicates, "Danish Heritage Society P. O. Box 386 Danevang, TX 77432".

Five young women are seated on a wooden bench in front of a row of eight young men who are accompanied by their Pastor, Soren Hamburg Madsen. Each individual is wearing a hat. Most of the girls' hats have floral embellishments on them. Everyone is dressed formally. The young women are wearing white, high-neck dresses that reach to the floor; their hands are clad in gloves. The young men are wearing suits and ties and simple, brimmed hats. Pastor Madsen is the only individual that is not completely facing the camera; he is turned 3/4 of the way.
