Next, an article by the editor of The Mexia Daily News that gives an overview of Steele's children and grandchildren. Finally, the report from General Houston includes "documents of Major General Sam Houston, Commander-in-Chief of the Texas army, sent to David G. Burnett, President of the Republic of Texas" which "give an authentic account of the battle of San Jacinto, a complete list of the heroes who fought in that engagement, and they clear up some points heretofore the object of controversy" (p. 13).
