Description: This photograph of Dr. Carl G. Roberts of Chicago is part of the Dr. Edwin D. Moten collection. Dr. Moten was the first African-American physician in the City of Denton. A cropped version of this photograph appears in the 1930 National Medical Association Program when Dr. Roberts was the former president of the Association and a member of the Program Committee. The National Medical Association was established at a time when African-Americans were not permitted to join the American Medical Association. Dr. Roberts is dressed in a dark suit and tie with a handkerchief in the top pocket.
