Dear Portal friends: Do you enjoy having history at your fingertips? We’ve appreciated your support over the years, and need your help to keep history alive. Here’s the deal: we’ve received a Challenge Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Now it’s time to keep our word and raise matching funds for the Cathy Nelson Hartman Portal to Texas History Endowment. If even half the people who use the Portal this month give $5, we’d meet our $1.5 million goal immediately! All donations are tax-deductible and support Texas history: yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Crosby County Public Library

About this Partner

The Crosby County Library is located at 114 West Aspen Street in Crosbyton, Texas. County and city-supported, it serves a rural population of approximately 6,500 residents. A state-supported book mobile served patrons until 1962 when a location in the basement of the county courthouse was established as the county library. The population eventually outgrew this space, and in 1988, a new facility was built at the present location. The beautiful limestone structure complements the Crosby County Pioneer Memorial Museum facade located on the same block in the downtown area. The availability of the Crosbyton Review on The Portal to Texas History is in fulfillment of our mission statement to provide online resources for all ages to address the informational, educational, and recreational needs of all individuals.
