Description: The Escarbada Outfit, a division of the XIT Ranch. Ira Aten, former Texas Ranger and Castro County Sherriff became the first foreman in 1893. L-R :Omohundro, Howard, Poynton, Morris, McCullough, and Tolman. This outfit remained in the field for two years and during that time they were never in town and they did not see any humans outside their own party more than a dozen times in two years. It is hard to believe that as recently as 1888 and 1889 there were so few people in th Panhandle of Texas
