The cistern house on the right side of the photograph is unpainted at this period. The windmill is partially visible between the limbs of the huge oak tree on far right. The house is surrounded by a picket fence which in turn is partially enclosed by a wire fence for foul. On the George house, note that both porches are open and no driveway has been formed in front.

There is a rocking chair on the bottom porch. Two oak trees partially obscure view of the front of house. The cistern house, to the left of the main house, is not painted and has no weather vane on top during this period. The top of a windmill is seen between the cistern house and the main house. A white picket fence is in front of the house and a wire fence for foul encloses the picket fence. Inside of the wire fence on right and to the left of the wooden gate are several wooden boxes (coops ?). There is no driveway leading to front. Stamped on back of photo in black: "316".

The cistern house has a stairway with white railing leading to the door near top. There is an African-American man standing next to the white picket fence on the left side of the photo. Three people are sitting on the front porch of the house. In this photograph, note that both porches are open, the cistern house is unpainted, upstairs and downstairs windows are shuttered, the cistern house has a weather vane at the top, foul pens in front of house, and no driveway has been formed in front of the house. Underneath the picture, hand-written: "GEORGE HOUSE MADE INTO TWO STORY". Two men on horses are in the foreground of the other eight, who are lined up in a row. There are two trees in the far left of the postcard. There is a white "East National Bank" building in the background and a smaller building in the far right center of the picture. On the back of the postcard: "10/15/17 (at top) Oct 16 2 PM (post office stamp) 1 cent stamp" Addressed to "Mr and Mrs APGeorge Richmond, Texas" Other writing is on back, but illegible due to the back of the postcard's attachment to the back of another postcard.
