She is in the shade of the cistern house located on the left side of the photograph. The Nancy Jones oak tree in the center background, which, according to the "1996 George Ranch Historical Park Interpreter Training Manual" was planted by Nancy Jones in 1824, shades a lounging dog (front) and a turkey (right). Two small wooden structures also sit beneath the shade tree (possibly animal pens) on the left and right sides of the tree trunk. Smaller trees are to the right of the photo. A white wooden pen can partially be seen in the background between the white horse and the cistern. Wooden fence in background with trees in the distance.
