The Walker Memorial Library at Howard Payne University collections include the Lasso yearbooks from 1912 - 2001, and the Swarm yearbooks from 2002 - 2007. The Howard Payne Lasso, 1912-2001, is an annual pictorial and literary publication that chronicles the yearly events in the life of the college (later university). The collections also present the yearbooks and catalogs of Daniel Baker College, which merged with Howard Payne University in 1953. The Trail, 1913 - 1952, was the yearbook for Daniel Baker College in Brownwood, Texas. The yearbooks feature school songs, yells, student writings and artwork, as well as photos of faculty, students, student groups, and athletic events. Some early photographs of Brownwood, Texas buildings and homes are also notable. The catalogs and bulletins of Daniel Baker College span the years of 1908 to 1953. They describe the governance, history, admission, course offerings, and campus life of Daniel Baker College in Brownwood, Texas.
Walker Memorial Library, named for John Allen and Elizabeth Peacock Walker, opened in 1952. Containing more than 100,000 volumes of printed and electronic books, documents, periodicals and audiovisual materials, the library also features the Heart of Texas Children's Literature Review Center, the Al Tucker Historical Research Room, an electronic classroom, the Grove Music Library and the Burress Genealogy Library.
