Description: Patent for a new and improved corn sheller. This design "comprises a double-shelling surface of peculiar construction in one plate or bed-piece, whereby a corn-sheller having but little weight is produced, which shall be capable of shelling either one ear of corn, or, by using both hands, two ears of corn at the same time, and which shall do its work with increased ease, ready clearance for the shelled corn, and protection, when using both hands, against their striking each other" (lines 12-21).

Description: Patent for a new and improved corn-sheller. This design, "[o]n its rear face, at the upper end of the body of the corn-sheller . . . provide[s] a hinged nubber-plate, which serves as a supporting-arm, and is constructed . . . for use in breaking or cutting off the smaller end of the ear of corn, at which end unsound kernels of corn are frequently found. The nubber-plate is hinged . . . to the upper end of the rear face of the body, and when opened out extends at nearly a right angle from the body and inclines slightly downward. When folded, the nubber-plate rests against the rear face of the body" (lines 39-52).

Description: Patent for a new and improved cot. This design is for a cot that, "[w]hen it is desired to pack the cot for transportation the flexible bottom is first removed from the frame, after which the latter is taken apart and the pieces thereof placed compactly together in a bundle with the flexible bottom. In this cot there are no pivot-joints to become worn or get out of order, and should any of the separable pieces become broken or damaged they can be readily replaced" (lines 47-56).

This design "features . . . first, reciprocating forked seed pushers or plungers attached to a sliding frame and operating alternately to deliver the seed through a covered opening in the bottom of the hopper, whence it passes into the furrow; second, an intermittently-rotating shaft arranged in the seed-hopper and provided with spiral or oblique arms for agitating the seed and feeding it toward the discharge opening" (lines 15-24).

This design consists in "the combination of the main wheel and shaft, a dish-shaped disk mounted on the shaft, the inner side of said disk having a series of bolt-heads rigidly secured thereto, the bolts extending inward laterally and being provided with threaded ends, the main wheel being provided with openings for the reception of said bolts ends and the adjusting-nuts on both sides of said wheel" (lines 11-19).
