Abstract: "Geotextiles, one among the different geosynthetic products, can be used for a number of functions or applications in pavement design. The benefits of using geotextiles in pavements and other transportation applications have triggered a proliferation of products. While this abundance of new products has led to reduction in costs, it has also made it difficult for TxDOT personnel to choose appropriate products based on their engineering properties. Consequently, this report provides the basis for (i) guidelines for proper use and selection of geotextiles in pavements, (ii) material specifications for geotextiles in pavement applications, and (iii) draft construction specifications."

Report discussing projects initiated under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), a fiscal stimulus package signed by President Obama on March 6, 2009. State agencies like the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) who received ARRA funds had to report, on a monthly basis, various data on each project in the ARRA program, including staff numbers, hours worked, and payroll. TxDOT asked the Center for Transportation Research (CTR) to identify and isolate specific elements of the 0-6592 database that TxDOT's Construction Division (CST) can implement into an existing TxDot database. This report describes the implementation of the database and procedures for updating it.
"Beginning in the summer of 1999, Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) started developing the framework for implementing a sophisticated new system to manage its large and diverse portfolio of projects during their development phase. This was followed by the implementation itself for managing project schedules, project and portfolio resources and costs during their development cycle. This unique and challenging implementation across TxDOT encompassed all functional areas involved in the project development phase. It was successfully completed by overcoming technical, technological, and cultural challenges inherent with any implementation of this scale and magnitude."
