Description: Patent for a new and improved irrigation machine. This design "consists in an irrigating-pipe having lapped side joints and notches in the inner edges of the lapped joints. It is comprised of a cylinder, a piston, a piston rod, an inlet and exhaust pipes and a valve, a chain with grapnels at one end end and the other end is connected to the piston rod, a sheave, an adjustable slidable trip rod, a pivoted trip lever connected to the cylinder, a four armed lever connected to the valve, and connecting rods.

This design "consist[s] of grease and soda tanks, the latter tank having a diaphragm . . . a register-tank, pipes leading from said grease and soda tanks to said register-tank, a pivoted converter, a rotary shaft in said converter and blades, a shaft journaled in uprights attached to said converter and provided with a crank and a bevel wheel, the latter gearing with a bevel-wheel on said rotary shaft in the converter, and removable furnaces for said grease tank and converter" (lines 21-32).

Description: Patent for improvements in mechanism for “applying oil to curves and switches of street railway tracks” (lines 6-7) by using an “oil-tank [that] is arranged in the upper position of the hood or shield over the car-wheel. The valve is in the bottom of the oil-space and may be controlled by a lever arranged to turn or lift in the valve, and under the valve is arranged the oiling-wheel, which runs lightly on the track or face of the car-wheel and applied the oil."
