Patent for a new and improved rain-proof cap for chimneys. This design "is to provide a . . . rain-proof or chimney tube for receiving that part of a stove-pipe that projects above the roof, which rain-proof is so constructed that pipes can be held in the same at different inclinations. The invention consists in a rain-proof formed of a conical tube held on the roof, in the upper end of which conical tube the upper end of the stove-pipe is held. This design "relates to that class of gates which are used to close and open passages through fences; and its object is to compensate for shrinkage of the gate in dry weather and swelling thereof in wet weather, in order that the bolt or latch may at all times extend the right distance from the edge of the gate to properly engage the gate post or jamb" (lines 9-16).

This design consists in "the combination, with the wire frame and the base to which the ends of the wires of said frame are connected, of the auxiliary strands bracing the arch-wire of said frame, and the book-holder having the upper end of its supporting-wires bent and connected to the longitudinal wire of said frame" (lines 18-24).
