Ballet- lenght dress was contructed from tattered membrane of grapefruit. Membranes were sewed on in tiny ruffles so that the dress resembled champagne lace. Peeled grapefruit seeds to represent small pearls & poinsettas petals composed her fan. Her jewelry was fashioned from peeled grapefruit seeds, Club members worked 296 hours on the dress as each tiny membrane was sectioned, washed, wiped, and dried individually.

The blouse, hat, gloves, shoes, trimmings and single coat button were of Chinese hat. Her purse was made of tree leaves to match the tailored suit. Cost of the materials was $3.60.

This ensemble used tepehuaje leaves to make the dress with polka dots of grapefruit membrane which was also used to make the collor and the gloves. The feathered hat, purse, and jewelry were fashioned from Chinese hat blossoms. Made in 272 hours. It took 20 pints of tepehuaje leaves, 1 bushel of grapefruit and 5 quarts. Chinese hat blossoms. Cost $21.48.

Mr. Rice's handsome Charro costume was made of diamond-cut pieces of eggplant. A metal cutter had been made especially to cut these diamond shapes. Each diamond was carefully wrapped in double-stick cellophane tape and then stuck on the base of the costume. To make the stripes down the trouser legs, the inside of grapefruit peel was scraped and shaped by pinking shears. The handsome sarape was made of strips of many fruits and vegetables to get the many colors and the fringe was of a hearty grass. Few men modeled so his costume was wildly applauded.

Dress is possibly made of boungainvillea.

Aproximately 100 hours to make. They used 50 2 ounce tubes of liquid cement to fasten the 175,000 maize and higera seeds to the costume, at a cost about $17.50.

Wives, children and babysitters fashioned this beautiful green and white evening dress out of 12 yds. of foundation material, 16 quarts of tepehuaje leaves, 723-1/2 bachelor buttons, 205 Chrysanthemums, 102 grapefruitand gallon of glue. Five cookies of two cups of coffee for each of the 350 hours required to construct the dress were also "used."
