Crochet purse

Description: Drawstring purse of silver thread crochet with circle and flower tatted lace appliqués. Near top of purse on front and back are sewn-on single metal rings and evidence of second lost ring where the top border may have been folded down and attached to the purse to form drawstring insert. Lined in pink silk satin. Closure of two silver braided drawstrings at sides. Measurements: 21 cm from top to point of bottom; 15 cm wide.

Description: Tam-O-Shanter style purse of faceted jet black beads with ornate circular gold colored closure. Top has open filigree work along sides with lid in rose and leave motif; mirror inside of lid. Flip clasp closure. Ball and fringe tassel of black beads on bottom. Linked chain handle. Description: Hat of black velvet. The domed crown is of shirred black velvet with spiraling lines of quilting. Around the base of the crown is a band of black grosgrain ribbon, with bow and trailing ribbons at side. The wide brim is slightly undulating, with wired edge. The hat is lined in black satin. There are no labels or tags in the hat.

Christmas Greetings

Description: Color postcard depicting a small Christmas Elf, dressed in red, standing by a sprig of holly. Printed on the card is, " Christmas Greetings. Your very sweetest Christmas dreams, If they should all come true, Could not bring more happiness, Than I hope for you." Correspondence on the back reads, "Merry Xmas and Happy New Year from Mrs. Monroe." It is addressed to Mrs. Earl Dill, Denison St., Paris, Texas. It is postmarked El Paso, Texas in Dec 21, 1915.

Description: Photograph of Mexican refugees fleeing during Pancho Villa's attacks. A large group of people are being loaded onto a flatbed train car; on the right, one unidentified man is helping a woman onto the train. The image accompanied a written speech, with the caption: "The people were loaded onto railroad cars and sent to El Paso to be relocated in Mexico near Juarez. Finally, in 1920, when Carranza was ousted as President of Mexico, Pancho Villa made peace with the government" (p. 9).
